It feels like summer 2024 went by in the blink of an eye and all of a sudden the leaves are starting to change colour. But before we peek too far ahead, let’s have a little look at what we’ve been up to over the summer months… We feel very lucky that this lovely island of ours has so much to offer, especially in the warmer months, and this summer we took full advantage of our wonderful home with day trips on land and at sea! Parklands Updates Excursions to the donkey sanctuary, beach days and ice creams, and boat trips on the solent didn’t slow us down from our Parklands progress this summer! We continued to work very hard and thanks to an incredibly generous donation from the Mark Benevolent Fund, we are proud to announce that we installed a lift meaning the entire building is now accessible to all! Our first floor has had a facelift too and almost all of our rooms are now in use. Last month we welcomed Healthwell Solutions to Parklands. Healthwell are an experienced team of therapists and practitioners who are focused on improving health and wellbeing and offer services such as massage, osteopathy, audiology, chiropody, and wellbeing advice. We are excited to announce that from 5th November we will also have a twice-weekly hairdressing salon @ Parklands! Vicky Downer will be taking walk-in sessions from 9.30am to 3pm during the first week of opening (from the 5th November) and then will be taking appointments for future bookings. We’ll share information on how to book in the coming weeks so keep your eyes peeled! Click here for more information! In case you hadn’t seen the announcement, we also reopened our ACE7 café which runs twice a month and is based at Parklands. ACE7 is a café for people under 65 years old with young-onset dementia. Upcoming Fundraisers Join us on 21st September which is World Alzheimer’s Day for our treasure hunt around Cowes followed by fun @ Parklands! We will also be having a Christmas Fair on 30th November so put the date in your diary! We’ll send more information on this closer to the time.
