I feel worried about attending/what if I know someone who may benefit from this service but may struggle to encourage them to attend?
This is to be expected. Perhaps first visit our community café, meet our staff, and have something delicious to eat! We are always happy to show people around and help people to start feeling more comfortable in a new environment before they consider coming to our Wellbeing Club. You can always take advantage of the introductory offer and see how things go!
What if I or someone I care for attends, and I/they don’t settle or wish to go home?
All of our staff are trained, experienced and work hard to build a therapeutic rapport with our visitors. It might take a few weeks for people to feel safe and comfortable here at Parklands. There will be no obligation to return if it doesn’t feel right and we will always discuss openly any concerns to ensure a person’s safety and overall wellbeing is at the centre of everything we do.
I need help throughout the day to move with lifting equipment. Can you help me with this?
Regrettably, we will not be a registered service that allows us to assist with intimate personal care or manual handling. Please do seek advice from our management team regarding the needs you have so we can explore all options available to you.
Our Community Café will have fully accessible toilets and facilities.
How will I pay for this service?
We will record monthly attendance and send an invoice for payment at the end of the calendar month, which would be payable within 2 weeks of receipt, either by direct payment, card, or cash as you prefer.
We will have people based at Parklands that can advise and support you to access any financial entitlements that may help contribute to the cost of your care. You may be in receipt of a personal budget from adult social care to spend as you wish to meet your ongoing health and social care needs. We can discuss all of this with you at Parklands!
How far in advance do I have to book for the Wellbeing Club?
Give us a call with any queries and we will let you know our availability. You may wish to request a regular day in the week. or have an unexpected commitment and need support. The earlier you book in advance the more likely we can guarantee a space, but we will always do our best to support with any last-minute requests if we can!
Any non-attendance or cancellation with less than 48hrs notice will regrettably incur a full charge for the booking as we need to cover our costs.
What can I do if I have any difficulties with transport?
Please enquire with the management team at Parklands. We may be able to advise on local people that provide cost-effective travel in your area. We are currently exploring transport options to support people so all enquiries will enable us to consider the viability of this as a service moving forward. Whilst we work on improving our parking capacity, we are also encouraging people to consider the use of the Cowes Park and Ride Southern Vectis Bus Service. The number 1 bus (via Roundhouse) runs every 10-15mins and the Rashley’s bus stop is only a few metres from our entrance.
What if all the spaces are full on the day I wish to attend?
We will take your contact details and inform you of any availability at the earliest opportunity!
