Terms and Conditions of booking
General information
If you are providing a venue for training:
FAQs
What if I don’t ever have enough staff available to make up course numbers?
You can join in with any course that is available on the calendar – you can send as many or as few staff from your organisation as you wish – many courses will have people from different organisations – you will be made to feel very welcome – just complete a booking form online, for your chosen date, and have a chat with Anna Dixon who will guide you through the process
What if I would like to hold the course at my own venue but don’t have the equipment?
Don’t worry – we understand why some organisations like to hold training at their own venue. We can bring most of the equipment that is needed, including a screen – we would like all delegates to have access to a desk or table if possible and to be able to see the trainer easily. Please see our conditions of booking for venue requirements
What if I need to cancel and give enough notice?
Whoops – we all know how that our work in health and social care is tough and unpredictable. If you give a minimum of 24 hour’s notice there will be no charge. We reserve the right to request a fee of £25 per person if they do not attend when booked but equally understand that this is often a ‘no-fault’ issue. Please just keep us fully informed if there appears to be a potential problem – we might be able to help by offering places to another provider
What information do I need to share with the course organisers?
We are collecting data on behalf of the IW Council who have sponsored this course. We are interested to know who the people are taking the courses, what their role in the organisation is and whether they attend all the sessions for their chosen training programme – you will be sent an attendance sheet when you book. Please complete all the sections fully as this will be the trainers guide for attendance on the day and information will be used to print certificates of attendance so please ensure names are spelt correctly.
What refreshments do I need to provide for the courses?
Organisations offering their premises as a venue should offer a minimum of water and hot drinks available throughout the day. Delegates on courses should be reminded that they need to make their own arrangements for lunch which could be food they bring themselves or purchase from nearby shops if there are any. We will advise when booking if there are shops nearby to the venue for refreshments.
Do I need to arrange my own parking?
Yes – most of our venues will have some parking – information will be provided with your booking confirmation – please try to car-share if possible to save pressure on paring spacs, especially when organisations are using their own venues.
How will the booking information be sent to me?
All bookings will be managed by email following an initial contact via the Alzheimer café website at https://www.alzheimercafeiow.org.uk/ and a telephone follow up. If email is not available, booking documentation will be sent out by post – please expect a delay of up to 5 working days for information to arrive if using the postal service.
Will I get a certificate to prove I attended?
Yes – each delegate will be given a certificate of attendance and a Dementia Awareness Partnership badge. Organisations will be provided with a window sticker to display in their premises to advise visitors that staff from their establishments have attended the course.
Can I access the course online?
Courses are designed to be delivered face-to-face. However, we are aware that some individuals who work from home, may do so due to disability or care responsibilities for example. In such cases it may be possible for delegates to join a course online. They will be present in the room and a slide set will be sent for them to follow – please state such a requirement for a member of staff very clearly in your booking phase in order that slides can be sent out accordingly.
Will all venues be fully accessible?
Where we have arranged venues, they are all fully accessible. As most organisations joining our training programme and offering venues, are health and social care providers, it is likely that their venues will also be fully accessible but please do state that this is a requirement during the booking phase.
Will there be a course book accompanying the sessions?
Yes – there is a course book and further recommended reading material will be published on our website for delegates to access following a course.
